9jähriges Mädchen aus Sankt Petersburg möchte verhindern, dass ihr linkes Bein amputiert werden muss!
Bei uns dreht sich alles um den Tango. Normalerweise. Mit diesem Beitrag machen wir eine Ausnahme und möchten darauf aufmerksam machen, dass viele Menschen überall auf der Welt mit schweren Schicksalsschlägen leben müssen. Widmen wir uns einen Moment einem dieser Schicksale: An dieser Stelle möchten wir auf einen Hilferuf von guten Freunden hinweisen, der uns erreicht hat (weitere Info siehe weiter unten).

Bis zum 10.01.2021 lief unsere Spendenaktion für Aleksandra. Gespendet kann jedoch weiterhin über die unten im Text angegebenen Kanäle.
Es geht um die 9jährige Aleksandra aus Sankt Petersburg. Aleksandra wurde mit einer seltenen angeborenen Erkrankung geboren, der so genannten Fibularhemimelie, was bedeutet, dass ihr das Fibularbein im linken Bein fehlt und ihr Schienbein verkürzt und stark deformiert ist. Die Ärzte in Russland, wo Aleksandra mit ihrer Familie lebt, empfahlen die Amputation ihres Unterschenkels als beste Option. Doch Aleksandras Familie lehnte diese Option ab und fand einen weltweit bekannten orthopädischen Chirurgen, Dror Paley, der in seinem Institut in den USA erfolgreich Kinder mit dieser Diagnose behandelt.

Spendenaufruf für Aleksandra
Liebe Freunde,
Dank der großen Hilfe so vieler Menschen ist es uns gelungen, Aleksandras Operation zur Beinverlängerung und Korrektur ihrer Gelenkdeformität in diesem Jahr zu bezahlen. Wir sind für die bisherige Unterstützung sehr dankbar!
Die Operation fand am 2. November 2021 im The Paley Orthopedic & Spine Institute in den USA statt. Alles ist sehr gut verlaufen. Aleksandra hat eine Schiene an ihrem Bein angebracht bekommen, und die Reha hat am 9. November 2021 begonnen. Das Ziel ist es, Aleksandras Bein um 8 cm zu verlängern und ihre Kniegelenksfehlstellung schrittweise zu korrigieren, was ungefähr im Juli 2022 abgeschlossen sein kann. Bis dahin muss sie in den USA bleiben und täglich Physiotherapie erhalten sowie alle zwei Wochen zum Arzt gehen und Röntgenaufnahmen machen. Die Operation zur Entfernung der Schiene ist für den Sommer 2022 geplant, wenn die Phase der Knochenkonsolidierung abgeschlossen ist.
In Russland gibt es keine Krankenversicherung, die eine solche Behandlung im Ausland abdecken würde, und Aleksandras Familie muss Hilfe bei Wohltätigkeitsorganisationen beantragen oder privat Geld sammeln. Der Kostenvoranschlag für die Operation zur Entfernung der Schiene, die im Juli 2022 durchgeführt werden soll, beläuft sich auf 19.000 Dollar. Zusammen mit den Kosten für die Physiotherapie und den Lebenshaltungskosten in den USA übersteigt dieser Betrag die Möglichkeiten von Aleksandras Familie. Deshalb bitten wir um Hilfe und Unterstützung, um Aleksandras Behandlung fortsetzen zu können.
Aleksandra ist ein sehr starkes Mädchen, sie hat bereits dreimal erfolgreich eine langfristige chirurgische Behandlung durchlaufen. Aber dieses Mal muss sie als 9-jähriges Schulmädchen und bereits recht fortgeschrittene Pianistin die medizinische Behandlung mit ihrer täglichen Klavierpraxis und dem Schulunterricht kombinieren, was wirklich nicht einfach ist. Während ihrer Behandlung in den USA hofft sie übrigens, sich auf die Teilnahme an dem für den 29. Juni 2022 geplanten Konzert der Gewinner des internationalen Klavierwettbewerbs in der Carnegie Hall vorbereiten zu können.

Donation Call for Aleksandra:
Dear friends,
With a big help from so many people we managed to pay for Aleksandra's surgery for her leg lengthening and joint deformity correction this year.
We are sincerely thankful to each of you for your help and support!
The surgery took place at The Paley Orthopedic & Spine Institute in the USA on November 2nd, 2021. Everything went very well. Aleksandra has got an external device applied to her leg and the lengthening procedure started on November 9th, 2021.The goal is to lengthen Aleksandra's leg by 8 cm and gradually correct her knee joint deformity that can be completed approximately by July 2022. Until this time she has to stay in the US and receive daily physical therapy and doctor's appointments with X-rays every two weeks. The surgery for hardware removal will be scheduled for Aleksandra in summer 2022 by completion of the bone consolidation phase.
Aleksandra's story in brief. She was born with a rare congenital condition called left Fibular hemimelia, that means she misses fibular bone in her left leg and her tibia bone was shortened and badly deformed. Doctors in Russia, where Aleksandra lives with her family, recommended amputation of her lower leg as a best option in their opinion. But Aleksandra's family has refused this option and found a world wide known orthopedic surgeon Dror Paley who successfully treats kids with this diagnosis at his institute in the USA.
The only problem is that there is no medical insurance in Russia that would cover such a treatment abroad and Aleksandra's family has to apply for help to charity foundations or fundraise money privately. The cost estimate for hardware removal surgery that Aleksandra will need in July 2022 is $19.000. Along with physical therapy bills and living expenses in the US this amount is above Aleksandra's family capacities. We have to ask for help to continue with Aleksandra's treatment.
Aleksandra is a very strong girl, she successfully went through a long term surgical treatment three times already. But this time, being a 9 yo school girl and already quite an advanced pianist, she has to combine the medical treatment with her everyday piano practice and schooling that is really not easy. By the way, while still being on treatment in the US, she hopes to be able to get ready to participate at the international piano competition winners recital at Carnegie Hall scheduled on June 29th, 2022
